Over the past two decades, Sjaak Buwalda has developed a pigeon family that has produced champions in more than 20 countries worldwide, excelling in both extreme long-distance and challenging one loft races. Legendary birds such as *Doutzen*, *Deyean*, *Drago*, *Ivaña*, *Maicon*, and *Melinda* have established the foundation for top-performing lofts in some of the toughest races. Recent highlights from his own lofts include the 4th National Barcelona by rising star *Sayuri* and the 8th National Bergerac by emerging talent *Andromeda*, both achieved in 2023.
The same exceptional bloodline also consistently shines in one loft racing, with achievements like the 10th place in the Corabia Winter Race final, 10th in the Derby Arona final, and 35th in the Krakus One Loft Race final, all under his own name.
This auction features the first-ever grandchildren of the exceptional hen *Sayuri*, who secured 4th National in the arduous 2023 Barcelona race, covering 1,280 km—140 km more than the national winner. In 2022, she proved her prowess with a 72nd-place finish in the extremely challenging National Perpignan at a distance of 1,155 kilometers. Her pedigree is remarkable: she’s a granddaughter of *Doutzen*, a 1st National winner and dam of other National champions, as well as *Drago*, a legendary nightracer, and *Red Power*, another 1st National winner.
Her first offspring with *Ramos* were paired with descendants of other top Barcelona racers, including a son of *Barcelona Jim* (14th National Barcelona ’18 at 1,210 km), a son of *Queen Beyonce* (49th National Barcelona ’19 at 1,285 km), a daughter of *Reina* (34th & 45th National Barcelona ’20/21 at 1,284 km), and a son of *Barcelona King* (383rd & 458th National Barcelona ’18/19 at 1,351 km). Where else can you find such a rare combination of elite 1,300-km racing genes at their finest?
