Lisbet & Kim Hansen – championloft!
The loft of Lisbet & Kim has been in the top of the prize lists in Denmark for the last 25 years.
Kim got his own loft in 1974 at 9 years old starting with fifteen youngsters. He had his loft for three years before he joined forces with his father. Together they had great fun and success for many sea-sons with a relatively small loft. Lisbet and Kim met in 1994. In 1995 they bought their present house in Rødovre, a suburb to Copenhagen in the northeastern part of Denmark. Two years later in 1997 their loft was build and ready to welcome the first pigeons. The loft is a garden loft with room for 20 pairs of breeders, 54 pairs of racers and around 60 youngsters. Living in a suburb to Copenhagen on the island of Zealand means that the pigeons of Lisbet & Kim must cross the sea to return home.

Until 2017 Lisbet & Kim totally dedicated their pigeons to the sprint and middle-distance competitions. They race in section 11, the biggest section in Denmark with around 100 members. From 2000 to present day their placements to the sprint championship (90-135 km) have been 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-2-2-2-4-6 etc. In the same period their placements to the middle-distance championship (250-500 km) have been 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-3-3-4-4-5-5 etc. For the combined sprint/middle-distance championship, called “The Copenhagen championship” their placements have been 1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-2-2-3-3-4-4-4-5 etc.
Lisbet & Kim are not interested in pigeon lines from popular lofts. When they feel the need to reinforce their breeding loft, they simply look for the absolute best performance pigeons without caring about which lofts they come from. They buy such top racers if possible – otherwise they buy youngsters from them.
In 2017, Lisbet & Kim decided to raise the bar and expand their hunting area. They tested for the first time their pigeons seriously on the long distance (500-735 km). The success came immediately with a 2nd prize in the long-distance championship in the section. From 2017 to present day their placements in this championship have been 1-1-1-1-2-3-5-6 etc. And for the nominated (four pigeons) long-distance championship they have achieved prizes as 1-1-1-3-3-8-9 etc.

Over time the loft has been section winner 104 times, and the numbers of Ace pigeons in the section are 65. The best prizes for the Danish championships have been a first place for Danish long-distance championship in 2019, a first place for the combined Danish middle- and long-distance championship for nominated pigeons in 2022 and a second place for the Danish middle-distance championship also in 2022.
In 2017 the interest for the marathon racers also arose. A lot of pigeon literature about marathon racing was studied. It quickly became clear to Lisbet & Kim that special pigeons were needed for these races. Therefore, heavy investments were made to strengthen the breeding loft with children of top marathon racers from Holland and Belgium. Today the breeding loft e.g. is housed with:

- A daughter of “Ted” 1. Nat Agen ’21 for Winkens/Rothenburg, Itteren in Holland,
- A son of “Southfield Hugo” 1. Nat. Perpignan ’17 and 1. Nat. Barcelona ’18 for Mark Gilbert, Windsor in England and “Willeke” 1. Int. St. Vincent ’19 for Ad Fortuin, Strijen in Holland,
- A son of “New Spirit” 1. Bordeaux ’17 for Wim Gielen, Breda in Holland,
- A son of ”Angeloume Vooruit” 1. Angeloume ’18 for Norbert & Stefan Ally, Tielt in Belgium,
- A daughter of ”Petar” 1. Nat. Narbonne ’19 for Batenburg/v.d. Merwe, Klaaswaal in Holland,
- A son of ”Paulien” 1. Int. Pau ’19 for Comb. Baas & Berg, De Kwakel in Holland,

Racing marathon races is the art of patience. But the results of Lisbet & Kim have improved with each season. There are three marathon races (800-1035 km) in Denmark each year. In 2021 the loft was section winner from Rouen (1032 km). In 2022 a region winner from München (832 km) was achieved. In 2024 the results were even better with the two first pigeons in the region from Rouen and a region winner from München. And in 2025 the climax so far came as section winner on all three marathon races of the season, first and third national winner from Baden-Baden (816 km), second national from Völklingen (813 km) and third in the region on the last race of the season from Rouen (1032 km). Even the second pigeon national from Baden-Baden was breed by Lisbet & Kim. It was raced by Peter Nygaard, a friend of Lisbet & Kim.
Lisbet & Kim’s plan for the coming year was to focus completely on the long distance and marathon races. Unfortunately, this plan cannot be implemented. For the last 25 years Kim has suffered from the pigeon fancier lung disease. Even though all precautions have been taken by using a professional mask in the loft, having special clothing only to be used in the loft and having a car with a separate compartment for the pigeons, Kim’s lungs are now so affected by the allergy, that he has realized he must stop racing pigeons. Therefore, 2026 will be the last racing season for the loft of Lisbet & Kim. Having no need for youngsters for the future Lisbet & Kim have decided to sell all their breeding pigeons. After the race season of 2026 the racers will also leave the loft.
