Kaj F. Andersen

Kaj started with pigeons in 1980 and until 2009 he raced from his parents house.
From there they achieved to win almost all championships – youngsters – yearlings – middledistance – longdistance nominated and unnominated in the section with a small team.

In 2009 he continued at his own home address and his intention was to fly with 16 pairs, the loft has 3 departments, one for youngsters, one for males with nests, and then a room for females, so they could be raced as widower-hens or the total-system. The first years the loft worked like this, but after a couple of years he had 16 couples raced by the natural system plus 20 extra males – still the pigeons did good.

With this larger team, he had a super season in 2013 and ended up racing everything – he won the Funen Championship (overall the island Funen) and the Middledistance Championship Nominated.
Now he had proven that he could win from the new loft, but that was not the intention to have so many pigeons, so he slowed down and actually wanted to stop in 2016.

However, he chose to take one more year and in 2017, he was once again champion on the middledistance nominated plus champion with the youngsters. This year was first year that he experienced the young bird decease on the loft.
In 2018 Kaj only raced on the One Loft Races due to this young bird decease problem. Back again in 2019 he was back winning the longdistance nominated championship.

SUPER 1242 – a super racer and breeder – also in the auction – see lot 13, part 1

Also in 2020 and 2021 he got the problems with the youngsters – and he started getting issues himself – not feeling well among the pigeons in the autumn season.
This took away the motivation – and he did only a few One Loft Races. Mostly it was a way to have some fun with Team Eriksson for a few seasons.

In 2022 Kaj teased Team Eriksson that he would beat them on the longdistance in 2024 – so during winter 2022/2023 he started to increase the number of pigeons.
In 2023 he didn’t have many old birds – mostly yearlings – but he had room for 26 pairs.
He had a good start – and after the season he actually had won the Funen Championship (overall the island Funen) and the Middledistance Championship Nominated once again.

In 2024 the battle between Kaj and Team Eriksson has to be fought – who would win the longdistance championship?!
Well, Kaj ended up winning the middledistance championship once again – he had his mind on other things and could not also go for the longdistance. After 2024 he had his thoughts about quiting the sport due to the health.

In 2025 he was pursuaded to try a new season, but the season didnt go as expected. Kaj had sold a group of youngsters to a fancier, but the fancier cancelled the deal. Therefore Kaj suddently had a full group of youngsters in the widower-loft. Kaj had the intention to try to race the hens on the nest but it was not possible with a full loft. In addition the pigeons that bred these youngsters never obtained a good condition after the breeding in march – these 10 couples breeding the youngsters were the best pigeons from the recent 2 seasons. So it became a “half” season with the other 16 pairs that raced that season.
Still he ended up as 2. Champion on the middledistance, and a magneficient result from Göttingen with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th in the section!
He was 3. Champion Middledistance Nominated, 6. Champion Sprint Nominated and won the Yearling Championship.
Also 1st Acepigeon Allround Males, 1st and 2nd Acepigeon Allround Females and the 2 best acepigeons Middledistance Nominated.

Kaj has always wanted to produce his own pigeon-family – so he breds from purchased pigeons, but also from the racers – to combine into a stronger family. He is not following the trends in the pigeonsport – he finds the pigeons that he likes – and he has the eye for the good pigeons.
His own family goes all the way back to 220-80-1470 from Egon Klitgaard – and his Delbar Van-Riel family.
The 8th (!) generation from this line was OLYMPIC 247 – he was Olympiad Pigeon in 2009!

A grandchild from OLYMPIC 247 was in 2025 double 1st prize winner – DAN-220-23-0221 (see auction lot 8 in part 1) so 10th (!) generation from the old 1470 from 1980!

11th generation is also represented on the auction – by 220-24-1138 – see auction lot 14, part 1 – also a superracing pigeon and co-winner of the championship in 2025.

A single pigeon on the raceloft is not bred by Kaj himself, but a pigeon he won in lottery from LSM Breeding – she was 1. Acepigeon in 2024 and 1st prize winner from Hannover.
Also in auction – see lot 16, part 1.

Kaj has now finally decided to end his career due to his healthproblems.
Therefore he offers his breedingpigeons and best racers at this auction – including 9 acepigeons, 8 pigeons with 1st prizes and 7 others with 2nd prizes.

We wish Kaj all the best of luck in “his new life” without the pigeons, but we are sure that he will continue to follow the pigeonsport.
