A small break!

The breeding collaboration BEST YEARLING is a trio – Brian Dalsgaard, Lars F. Hansen and Jakob Noe.

Due to the reason that Brians son has to move close to Copenhagen to play soccer, the trio has decided to sell some of the pigeons in this auction. Brian wants to be able to follow his sons soccer – and therefore the season 2023 will be relaxed and “just for fun”.
The new goal will be in 1-2 seasons aiming for longdistance.
There will only be 9 widowers in the loft next year plus 9 yearlings just on perches – and maybe some weekends will be without racing.
Main goal will be to prepare the yearlings for longdistance season 2024.

The last 2 seasons have been amazing for the BEST YEARLING trip – almost every goal set, has been achieved:

  • 1st Ace pigeon Long distance 2021
  • 1st Ace middle distance nominated 2021
  • 1st Ace National allround 2022
  • 1st Ace Sprint 2022
  • 1st price Long distance championship 2021
  • 1st price Longdistance championship Open 2021
  • 1st price Middledistance nominated 2021
  • 2nd price Middledistance unnominated 2022

The BEST YEARLING Breeding loft

Together Brian Dalsgaard, Lars Hansen and Jakob Noe have been breeding in the name BEST YEARLING (“Aarets Fund” in Danish).
The breedingloft was founded in 2006 and after season 2011 almost all youngsters in the three loft was bred from this breeding loft.

The strains in the loft are based in three families with four pigeons as base breeders.
We have bred at least 80 x 1st prices of this family, and an unknown number of Ace-pigeons.

The Van de Merwe family:
Two of the basic breeders are from Jorgen Nielsen, who purchased some of the first Van de Merwe pigeons sold into Denmark.
They were very successful and two pigeons have become basic breeders – 224-02-617 and his niece 224-04-561.

“617” is the most important of the breeders. He bred 6 sons winning 1st prices and 1st Acepigeon, but more important, most of them were even better breeders.

The most important bird bred from “617” is:
“388”: 2 x 1st prize winner and father of the latest stockbird 224-09-196, who was 1-6-8-14 in his first races as yearling, but then broke his wing and was moved to the breedingloft. He has bred several top-pigeons, including 224-11-1271, which won 2nd national Acebird Longdistance 2013 and 2 x 1st Ace in the section.

Another son from “196” is 224-08-286, who was 1st semi nat. og 1st ace in the section.
His sister 224-08-271 also flew 1st ace and the have bred:
– 224-12-1318: 2 x 1st Olympic pigeon for Denmark
– the two fullbrothers 224-16-409 og 224-16-460 both winning 2 x 1st in the section – one of them 1st seminational.
Also from these two pigeons we have bred 1st Ace youngsters, 2 x 1st Ace “46” and 224-16-501: 1st ace himself and father to 224-19-1024: 3 x 1. prize winner including Antwerpen 2021.

The niece of “617” 224-04-561 bred 5 times 1st Ace and she is also grandmother of “196”.

Basecock no. 2 is 224-98-863. He was a toppigeon with two times 1st price and from the old Deweedt-family, that won the Danish championship for Brian & Egon 1997. These red cocks were quite exceptional, when the races were tough and with distance of more than 500 kilometers. When Brian won 2. National Championship, the “863” was father, grand- or greatgrandfather to the first pigeon in 17 of 18 races. All the red pigeons in the loft have “863” somewhere in the pedigree, since no other red pigeons have been added to the loft.

The last stockbird is 053-03-589. She was bought in auction, and is the mother of 1st National Acebird 2008, the 2nd national Ace Long distance 2013 and now she is the greatgrandmother of “1281”: 1. National Acepigeon 2022.
“589” is a Vervoort hen with Fieneke 5000 in the pedigree.

Our latest stockbirds are 224-09-196 and 224-11-1341.
“196” has “617”, “863” og “561” as grandparents and “1341”, which bred “1281” 1st Ace national 2022 has “863”, “561” og “589” as grandparents. She has been excellent with the descendants from “617”.
